Receiving Fraudulent Texts? It's Called "Smishing"

Text message schemes have become even more prevalent as financial institutions around the world begin offering more text-based services. Fraudsters using text to attempt to scam recipients often send text messages that appear to be sent from a financial institution or credit card company and ask the recipient to verify their account number or other personal information.

If you receive a text message you suspect is fraudulent do not click any links or reply to the message. Industrial Credit Union will never ask for your personal information over text.

WARNING SIGNS

  • You receive a text message from an unknown number asking about activity on your account.
  • You are asked to confirm your account or personal details by responding to a text message.
  • The sender claims that fraudulent activity has been found on your account.
  • The sender claims that your debit card has been canceled.
  • You are advised to contact a fake fraud investigations body.
  • You are discouraged from contacting Industrial CU.

TIPS TO PROTECT YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

  • Do not give out your personal, debit card or online account details over a text message.
  • Do not open suspicious or unsolicited text messages; delete them.
  • Do not click on any links in a spam text message.
  • Never call a telephone number that you see in a spam text message.
  • Never reply to a spam text message (even to unsubscribe).
  • Never send your personal, debit card or online account details through a text message.

Receiving Unwanted Mortgage Mailings?

If you apply for a mortgage, your inbox, answering machine, and mailbox may fill up quickly with competing offers from other mortgage companies. It’s not that the company you applied to is selling or sharing your information. Rather, it’s that creditors – including mortgage companies – are taking advantage of a federal law that allows them to identify potential customers for the products they offer, and then market to them.

Mobile Check Deposit Update

Deposit checks of any amount to personal or business accounts!

We know how important it is to have a mobile deposit option during this challenging time. We’ve made some rapid changes behind the scenes to make Mobile Check Deposit available to ALL Industrial Credit Union members -including businesses.*

Please bear with us while we adjust to the new process. Make sure to check your available balance after making a deposit; there may be instances where holds are placed on checks for members who have not had holds placed on their deposits before. Rest assured, we’re working hard to make funds available as quickly as we can while taking measures to prevent potential fraud. Holds on checks deposited during business hours are reviewed by our staff, and in most cases, released the same day. Holds on checks deposited after-hours are reviewed over the course of the next business day.

Save yourself a trip to the drive-up or night drop and deposit checks to your accounts with your cell phone.

*Deposits are subject to potential holds based on review by Industrial Credit Union. Mobile Check Deposit is available to all members unless we have previously revoked the service on your account.
