Scam Alert - COVID Relief Payments

Please be on the lookout for scammers offering Coronavirus related relief. Remember, the government will not ask for you to pay upfront or for sensitive information (account, credit card or social security numbers) as part of a relief offer.

From offers of debt relief and mortgage refinancing, to offers of COVID-19 test kits or pay-to-access cures, scammers are coming up with all sorts of new ways to part people from their money. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) recently released this article a scam circulating in which thieves pretend to be from the Social Security Administration.

Now more than ever it is important to be cautious about your sensitive personal information or requests for money. As a reminder, Industrial Credit Union will never ask you for your full social security, credit or debit card numbers.

If you spot or receive information that you believe may be part of a COVID/Coronavirus related scam, please contact our Call Center at (360) 734-2043 or reach out to the Federal Trade Commission.

The FTC has even developed a ‘Scam Bingo’ card to help consumers identify potential scams. Check it out at FTC Scam Bingo.
