The Credit Union Difference

Industrial Credit Union is a cooperative. Members are at the heart of all the good things we do. You can suggest products and loans we should offer, help guide our service to the community and determine how the credit union is run. You elect your friends and neighbors to the Board of Directors or can run to be on the board yourself. Unlike banks, which are profit-driven to provide large returns to their stockholders, credit unions recycle profits to make life a little better for members.

As a financial cooperative, our pledge is to put “people before profits.” We have principles that guide everything we do. These seven International Operating Principles are the core of our credit union:

  1. Voluntary and open membership
  2. Democratic member control
  3. Member economic participation
  4. Autonomy and independence
  5. Education, training and information
  6. Co-operation among co-operatives
  7. Concern for community
